Where all things beautiful collide

Chloe

Since my blog started in the spring of this year, I unfortunately missed the opportunity to talk about seasons in fashion prior to spring 2010.  I think amazing fashion should live on past it’s season, so in honor of fall 2010, I wanted to show some of my favorites from fall 2009.  Since Hannah MacGibbon took over Chloe in spring 2009, she has quickly risen to the top of my favorites list with Lanvin, Stella McCartney and others.  I loved all the rich neutrals she showed, while at Stella McCartney, I loved her trademark lace used in new ways with black and greys.  Alber Elbaz of Lanvin didn’t disappoint with his 50’s film noir looks with strong silhouettes, over-the-top beading and jewelry, fur and feathers.  I enjoyed looking at these collections again and hope you enjoy as well.  If you are lucky enough to own some of these pieces, please wear them again.  They’re too good to stay in your closet.  If you don’t own them, take inspiration from them and look for less expensive versions.  They are out there!

Camel is probably Chloe designer Hannah MacGibbon’s favorite color, and I am right there with her.  This leather trimmed poncho would be perfect in any closet.  Don’t keep it in there though…wear it!  H & M has some great pieces this fall like ponchos.  www.hm.com

I adore shorts in the fall with tights or a high boot.  Leather shorts…even better!  I also love a paperbag waist with a skinny belt, and the poncho coat is fantastic!

This knotted one shoulder blouse is stunning.  With velvet pants it is perfect for the cold season, but pair it with a high-waisted short in the summer and you give it yet another life.

An oversized blouse (almost like a man’s shirt) is an unexpected match to a flowing pleated skirt.

Another menswear-like piece with a skirt, a blazer with sleeves pushed up…a favorite of mine!

Remember my very first blog post The New Neutrals?  Everyone looks great in a nude shade if you find the right one for your skin tone.  This may take some time to figure out, but totally worth it.  www.chloe.com

The thigh high “leather” boots are super chic and are like combining the leggings you should already own with a great boot.  The coat is classically modern as well.

I never get tired of a masculine/feminine mix like a well-tailored jacket over a pretty lace dress.  This mix is the epitome of who Stella is.

A very ladylike skirt and blouse are given a punch of color with a great red shoe.

This silver dress is so modern and the sequins create such a beautiful effect.  If you own this bring it out for the winter party season!  www.stellamccartney.com

Lanvin

Can’t you just see Grace Kelly wearing this (if she was alive) or any of the Lanvin looks from fall 2009?  The whole collection was very film noir…very Alfred Hitcockian.  The feather head pieces were a lovely addition to each model.

I love, love, love color, but I have been obsessed with neutrals for quite some time now.

This is how black and blue can work together amazingly.

Never enough jewelry, beading, fur, etc. especially when it’s Lanvin!  www.lanvin.com
