Where all things beautiful collide

A few new fashion stars have risen to the top ranks amid pedigreed labels of modernism like Calvin Klein and Narciso Rodriguez.  Two of these talents are Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra.  Their consistent looks from season to season have kept my interest and have me wanting more, more, more!!  Here are a few reasons why I love them so…and why you should as well!

Alexander Wang fall 2011

My favorite model Karmen Pedaru wears the prettiest of ponchos at Alexander Wang in my favorite blushy champagne tone.  Perfection!!

Modern shaped sweaters are the perfect companion to skirts made of strips of luxurious fabric.  The sheer sleeves on the sweater above are a sophisticated surprise.

This bias-cut and nicely “shredded” detail was a trend at young and hip labels ranging from Wang to Altuzarra (see below) to Proenza Schouler.

Jewelry meets function with this amazing bag at AW.

What a fantastic coat to go over an evening dress or cocktail look with just a touch of silver.  Speaking of silver, she’s wearing my favorite accessory of the entire fall season, a metallic high-heeled loafer.

Alexander Wang fall 2011

The chicest of sweater dresses for a chilly night.  Even the glasses get a trimming of warm fur!

Wang has made these leg warmers a signature of his from past seasons.  He IS the new face of modernism in fashion.

Only Alexander Wang could take a tuxedo jacket to the level of almost outerwear without it looking completely ridiculous.

More tuxedo inspiration on Joan Smalls.  A long sheer blouse over a slim-cut pant is the new way to dress for an evening out.

The marble and steel tables are so chic at Alexander Wang’s new shop!  I want one as a dining table.

Natural elements are always a pleasant surprise when combined with minimalism.  What a greeting at the top of the stairs!

Tons of chalky white marble meets black and brown accents, and a whimsically modern swing at Alexander Wang’s new (and first) shop in New York City.  www.alexanderwang.com

Altuzarra fall 2011

Get yourself a fur shoe, whether it be Alexander Wang’s or Joseph Altuzarra’s fun fall creations.

Altuzarra fall 2011

Outerwear meets eveningwear.

Altuzarra fall 2011

Joseph Altuzarra’s show ended with a few evening looks that combined gorgeous beading, draping, and pleating.  Outerwear pieces continued to the end with fur-lined parkas as evening cover-ups.

Altuzarra fall 2011

Just as Alexander Wang showed for fall, Altuzarra also showed creative takes on outerwear.  A coat meets cape…not sure what to call it.

Altuzarra fall 2011

This chunky knit sweater, or one like it, should be in your closet this fall and winter.  The super high slit, not a new concept to Joseph Altuzarra, brings sexiness to this covered-up look.

Altuzarra fall 2011

Two big trends together on model Arizona Muse.  A luxe fur coat over a sheer dress.  The fur accents continue at the ankle with Aluzarra’s great fall shoe.

Altuzarra fall 2011

I’m not usually one to recommend a dress over pants, but at Altuzarra it is executed just right.  An argyle print throughout the collection was a great addition amongst the wonderful outerwear pieces and subtle grunge notes.

Altuzarra fall 2011

Season to season, I just can’t seem to get enough of the blushy nude tones.  The contrast between the slinky bias-cut dress and lace up boots is fantastic, and perfectly Joseph Altuzarra.

Karolina Kurkova is always a pleasant sight on the runway!  I’m loving the polished, yet over-sized and slightly grunge layers she’s wearing.
