Where all things beautiful collide

The first day of summer is June 21st, and the 4th of July is merely a month away, so it’s time to get ready for all those summer guests!  This doesn’t mean you have to provide the full “Ritz” treatment, but there are some simple things you can do to make your guests feel pampered, but hopefully not too much to where they never leave!

Have fun with your guest space and try things with decorating you may be too timid to try elsewhere.  I wouldn’t recommend neon walls, but a great printed wallpaper, or rich lacquered wall are always chic.  You can’t go wrong with crisp white linens, and of course make sure there are extra pillows and blankets at hand.  A great chair and light to read by are also essentials, as well as a mirror if an adjoining bathroom isn’t there, and a small chest of drawers for light unpacking.

Take a peek at what’s blooming in the garden to have ready to welcome your friends or family, and go the extra step and have some necessities that may have been left out of the suitcase ready to use, i.e. toothpaste, shampoo, etc. and maybe even a little something for a midnight snack.  Think of it as your own bed and breakfast, except perhaps eat out instead of cooking all the meals for your guests.  Don’t do too much to where you feel overwhelmed and aren’t enjoying that special visit.

A bedside tumbler is great for a late-night sip of water, and doubles nicely as a pretty bud vase.

Think casual, not fussy with the flowers.  Even just one large peony in a bowl is enough.

Crisp pjs from Brooks Brothers or Olatz are unisex, or go more personal with fun printed or colorful pajamas.  This definitely isn’t an essential, but would be a great take-home gift.

Check-out is at 10:00am!!
