Where all things beautiful collide

Without a single snowflake on the ground, and barely a frozen layer on my morning car windshield, it’s hardly the Arctic here, but I’m still inspired by all things frozen (and NOT the movie)!  I started preparing this post awhile back when there was 8″ of snow, but just yesterday new inspiration hit me that I love!  I had images of frozen flowers, and furniture encased and floating in acrylic, but then on Instagram I saw an amazing display of faux ice at Alexander Wang’s flagship store in New York, and this beautiful thing called ice flowers in the Arctic Ocean.  Looking back at the photos of flowers covered in frost, I thought about Alexander Wang again, but this time the beading he did at Balenciaga for spring that reminded me of a frostbitten layer on trees and grass.  Looking beyond things literally frozen, I thought of flower arrangements under glass cloches or in plexi boxes, almost like a modern-day Beauty and the Beast rose frozen in time.  Rock crystals on tables and dripping from chandeliers also have the feeling of ice.  Nature is a beautiful thing, and I love how from it sparks ideas that are maybe unnatural in their material, but mimic it perfectly.  I hope you’re having a wonderful season and staying warm wherever you are!

Between the crystal chandelier, marble table and mantle, and rock crystals on the table, this dining room has a cold quality that I like!
