December 5, 2015 30 Perfect Gifts
Christmas is in three weeks, and Hanukkah is even sooner, so it’s time for me to share my favorite gifts to give this season. I’ve tried to think about what all the adults on my list would want, and I secretly want most of them myself. I’ve even included a few stocking stuffer ideas, and how to wrap the gifts. Fresh greens tied with ribbon is the way I’m going this season. What on this list do I most want for myself? I’d have to say Apparatus Studio’s new Neo Marble objects. What’s on your list?

November 14, 2015 What I’m Obsessed With Now: Ireland
I’m always amazed at how inspiration hits me, and how random it can be. I love that though! J. Crew’s December style guide takes us on a trip to the beautiful green rolling hills of Ireland. When I think about Ireland I instantly think about chunky cable knit sweaters (see my post about fall texture), plaids, tweed, and of course sheep (I want pink dyed ones). I started researching traditional Irish houses and interiors, and have to say I’m pretty smitten. There are rooms covered in florals, which aren’t as much my style, and then there are rooms that are more minimal with colorful walls and crisp white, marble floors, and walls covered in portraiture. Love! My favorite things about an Irish home have to be the Georgian/Irish marble mantles, and ornately carved marble-topped consoles. I’ve always imagined those pieces in more modern spaces. Obviously we can’t all live in a sprawling Irish estate with those marble mantles and floors, but you can add other touches to your home like a plaid wool blanket to the end of the bed, or pillows in a modern take on floral chintz to the sofa. If you’re not feeling it for your home, I definitely recommend wearing tartan, tweed, and turtlenecks from J. Crew for the season!

October 16, 2014 Color Crush: The New Peach Part II
In my last post all about my love of the peach palette, the spring 2015 collections had yet to be shown. Those collections from New York to Paris proved that this color is here to stay, for awhile at least. I was also reminded of a few more looks I hadn’t shared from fall that have various doses of the hue, as well as rooms by some of my favorite interior designers. Peach can range from a barely there beigey tone, as seen at Stella McCartney, to a true nude shade like at Margiela, to a orangey coral at Acne Studios. I love all of the range, and there’s a shade for everyone to wear. I would happily live in a peachy home!

May 22, 2014 Summer Stripes: Part II
In honor of Memorial Day weekend, and because I just had so much darn fun with my last post all about stripes, I thought I’d share some more favorites, this time not just from West Elm and J. Crew, but from other great stores like Anthropologie, Crate & Barrel, and Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede‘s Lemlem brand. Stripes are colorful, graphic, and beyond perfect for Memorial Day weekend activities, and beyond, to see you all summer through! Enjoy your weekend, and be sure to take some time out from shopping, picnicking, and boating, to remember the true reason for this holiday, a day of remembrance and gratitude.
I own this bedding and love it, although is was my “winter” bedding.
Ikat and stripes join forces!
Pair this cropped top with a pair of white jeans all summer long!
I’m not usually a fan of camo, cargo pants, or let alone a combination of the two, but I like this casual look for the season.
Stripes can be dressy when made out of sparkly beads, although I think this would be pretty chic with a tee and jeans.
Keep stacks of these striped towels, or rolled up in big woven baskets poolside!
These hand towels would make wonderful napkins for al fresco dining!
I love the frayed edge detail on these breezy curtains.
I’m obsessed with this rug!
A tassel is a fun and unexpected detail on this placemat.

May 12, 2014 Must Have Monday: Summer Stripes
Stripes. They’re a staple of summer, and as far as I’m concerned, stripes are the perfect uniform of the season for men and women. Wear a striped shirt with white jeans, or find the perfect striped dress and style it with sandals. Stripes are great indoors too! Add a striped duvet to your bed, or hang a ticking stripe shower curtain in the bathroom, or go even bolder and roll out a wide-striped rug. I love stripes year-round, but they feel particularly fresh right now. I scoured the items at two of my favorite stores for the best striped pieces around, and I found some good ones! J. Crew has amazing shirts, ties, dresses, and accessories for the whole family, and West Elm has something striped to add to every room in the house. Summer stripes definitely lean towards the nautical, but they also have a modernity to them when realized in crisp white and grey, and soothing in shades of blue and sea green. For spring, fashion designer Steven Alan even collaborated with WE to create a home collection composed entirely of stripes. His bedding is on my list, and he’s another great source for striped summer staples. I also love his perfectly edited assortment of home goods sourced from great small companies like Faribault Woolen Mill, and other local brands (meaning U.S.A.). Stripes are classic yet modern, youthful yet steeped in heritage, and should definitely be on your list for summer!

October 6, 2013 Top 30+ Accessories: Fall 2013 Part II
In part one I covered the more essential of accessories, shoes and bags. My essentials aren’t quite your basic tote or pump, but more like a work of modern art by the likes of Proenza Schouler and Pierre Hardy. On to more art for your outfit, jewelry! And to top it off…a hat!
As I mentioned in the last installment, pearls are big for fall. Valentino added large pearl strands beneath crisp collars, and as studs to clutches.
I’ve always been obsessed with rock crystals and minerals, so when I saw the oversized cuffs at Giambattista Valli, I was quite ecstatic!
The necklaces at Lanvin that spelled out various empowering words, like ‘cool’, were all over the streets during the recent spring 2014 fashion weeks.
A little tiara goes a long way. These not usually a “do” of mine, but this one is so good!
Add the casual staple of a baseball cap, re-imagined in wool for autumn, to a dressier or more tailored look. Stella McCartney and Neil Barret joined J. Crew on this trend for fall, and it will continue into next spring.
